Cork, Ireland

THE COVE is a resort for meetings of Heads of State of the European Community and their entourage, planned for a natural bay in the western coast of Ireland.

It includes an ancient castle to be remodeled as a 6 star hotel, a pier for yachts, casino, tennis courts, a golf course and scattered energy efficient villas.

These villas are designed with sustainable strategies such as orientation, cross ventilation, passive solar heating and cooling, photovoltaic roofs, use of landscaping as wind barrier, built with local stone walls, color concrete radiant floors and indoor pools that store the heat captured through glazed south facing sloping walls and release it during the long, chilly winter nights.
